Discussion about the new HBO show for ASOIAF readers, especially those who have read Fire & Blood, which is essentially the outline for the series.

I'm very interested in seeing if this show will end with the Dance if the Dragons, or continue to the Blackfyre Rebellion. So many major players of the Dance already introduced, and they already set up Alicent and Viserys :wow:

With the time jumping that is going on in the show, it could work out either way. I'm down for the Blackfyre Rebellion. Too much CGI for Dance to make it look realistic

So is this gonna be multiple seasons?

I only read up till Maegor the cruel in fire and Blood.

They plan on stretching this shyt out that long.

Is it possible?

And in theory they could retcon shyt right as far as lineage?

Meaning they could have King Aerys Thus DANY come from whoever wins the throne right?

I spoiled myself on what happens. When are the time skips going to stop?

The last few major players haven’t been born yet. But other than that, I’m not sure what other events need to be checked off to start the dance

The final time skip is between episode 7 and 8. All of the characters will be born and at the appropriate age for the Dance to start.

They said currently plotted for 3 or 4 seasons, but it's not set in stone.

But no, they aren't rectoning lineages. In fact they want to fix the lineage that D&D changed. One of the things GRRM specifically told them was to fix it and add Jahaerys II back to the timeline. Ryan Condal plans to be pretty faithful to the material.

That’s interesting because the 1st thing he changed was having Princess Rhenys contend for throne during the Grand Council as opposed to her son like in the book.

You switched it up. She's the one who's passed over, but in the book it's for Baelon, not his son Viserys
I’m not sure if I worded it correctly but I’m confused reading your response. In the book Corlys & Rhaenys’ son Laenor & Viserys are the two that the Grand Council are deciding between. The show was Rhaenys & Viserys.

They didn’t really change it. They simplified it. In the books, Rhaenys was a claimant at the great council. She was one of the 14. But the final two were Laenor and Viserys.

But the basic idea is still the same in the show. Viserys line vs Rhaeneys line….or even more specifically, Aemon’s line vs Baelon’s line. With Baelon’s line winning and setting the precedent that the throne could not pass to a woman or through a woman to her son.

They cut Jaehaerys II from the family tree. In Game of Thrones, Maester Aemon says the Mad King is the son of Egg, meaning Jaehaerys II didn't exist as a king. GRRM apparently let the new showrunners know that he hated this change and wanted them to somehow fix it.
