And OVO copied their sound from:

Aaliyah influenced Drake, Ginuwine's The Bachelor influenced Weeknd, Static influenced Party, there's the rap/singing thing Missy did, Timbaland was the crew's producer.
How could you forget Devante :wow:
His production and writing influenced them all.

Illmatic had impact on lyricism and street poetry on that other level.
If Rakim had the bars and technique, Nas had the street poetry mixed with the technique.

At one time it was more bars/technique say Snoop, Rakim, Redman or DOC or content say Scarface, Pac, Cl Smooth or Cube. Nas bridged the gap some would say and I could somewhat agree. But perhaps now that I think of it, Cube and Wu-tang already did that and their albums had major impact.

But yeah, perhaps what Nas did was really just perfecting what cats had done.

Allow me to break down why you're wrong and while I'm typing it out and thinking about it let me go on and admit that you were right all along :lolbron:

Nas is my second favorite rapper ever. But I'd be lying if I said he ever innovated anything, which isn't a knock on him at all

Let's be honest now, influencing something doesn't necessarily mean that you created it.

DMX was influenced by Rakim, does that mean that he sounds the same?

40 and Boi 1da have their own distinct styles, T-minus too and Drake had his own rapper style that sounded nothing like Missy and his singing style is not on the same planet as Aaliyaa or Ginuwine. Drake was influenced by Kanye, Jay-z, Clipse and many other rappers. It's not like he was imitating anyone (until Q came around).

Post the equivalent Missy and Static, respectively, songs to

and

Cause these are some of the defining songs of their sounds

Not sure if I agree with it but I’ve heard people say Blackland Radio 66.6 by SPG before. If you say that though, then you gotta mention Mystic Stylez and The End by Three 6 Mafia

It was really around the same time but when it came to that auto tuned singing shyt Yeezy had more influence than Wayne
I disagree.

Lollipop came first.

Prostitute Flange came first.

Wayne was the first rapper to go full autotune in the Dey Know remix.

Wayne made it cool to sing and rap in autotune.

Yeezy also had a great impact as well but I think Wayne made the best music with it.

Lil Wayne had way more influenced in Kanye at that time

"A lot of different artists from the R&B world of the ’90s—we’re trying to keep that prominent, like the last album with the Aaliyah stuff. I’ve been an Aaliyah fan since I was a kid—me and my sister—so that stuff comes up as well. That Timbaland/Ginuwine era, too."---- Noah "40" Shebib Noah 40 Shebib Interview on Take Care by Drake

Who denied that he was influenced? I'm asking how the music sounds the same :mindblown:.

Post the tracks you are saying that he and the Weeknd stole that sound close to anything I posted, post the beats close to anything I posted.

I'm influenced by Michael Jordan doesn't mean that I ball the same. I'm influenced by Bill Gates doesn't mean that I'm a software billionaire. Jay-z is influenced by Kane and Basquiat doesn't mean he raps or paints the same. I can go on, but hopefully you understand that influence and inspiration is not equal to copying. You can be a fan of someones innovation to carve out your own lane. :snoop:

That is VERY debatable. It definitely wasn’t outright. I do agree with the rest of your post. Wayne was the rapper that did it first. Kanye was the first time people seemed to take it more serious. It always seemed like Wayne was fukking around when he did it
