So I’ve always had this thought in my head about BP2 and that there was a great album in the midst of all the bloat so I finally took a crack at making a play list.

I wanted something that felt like an album and not just a collection of songs so it meant I had to go back and get rid of songs that, although I like, I felt didn’t fit the vibe I was going for. And also keep songs that I felt served a purpose at the time.

I feel my playlist, if it were an album would be a 4 mic album. It was hard to re-create the cohesiveness of the blueprint, given the songs created in the BP2 time frame, but I think my play list created a more consistent vibe and gets rid of a lot of the mediocrity and redundancy of the original release.

as a reminder BP2 had 25 songs and BP 2.1 had 17 (5 bonus tracks)

I named it Blueprint 2/2

1. Intro (People Talking)- I initially had this later on the play list but, after listening to it, I realized it was the perfect intro. He’s pretty much talking to the listener, before he raps, setting the vibe. At the time, everyone was talking about the jay and Nas beef. This song basically, in my mind, acknowledges that and feeds into it. It helps it’s also short and shouts out BP2. Works perfect as an intro to the album released during their beef.

2. watcher 2- I initially had this as the intro, as I don’t really like “a dream” but I replaced it with people talking. Jay basically reflecting on the game as one of the top dogs.

3. Hovi Baby -classic jay song.

4, La La La - technically this is a remix but think this would’ve been a strong single even if it wasn’t labeled such. Beat is dope and jay z is spitting. I felt it was the best “club song” out of all the options jay recorded in that time frame.

5. Excuse me miss- single that shows a diff side of jay, after all the misogyny claims. Dope sample by the neptunes.

6. 03’ Bonnie and Clyde - I honestly debated not putting this song on here but like I said, I wanted an album vibe and there’s no way this song would’ve been left off any album in that time frame. :yeshrug:

07. All around the world - Solid song that I play often. It’s pretty much album filler but not bad at all. Also, in my mind, songs 5-7 tell somehwhat of a loose story.

08. show you how - to me this is the “you don’t know” of the album. Jay at his best talking cash shyt over banging production.

09. some how some way - imo, this was the best of the “deep” songs on BP2. I originally had this and Ballad for a fallen soldier but I really wanted to keep the album tight and I feel this song is just flat out better.

10. Blueprint 2- I debated whether or not to put this song on here. One one hand, I think it’s a great diss, but on the other hand, jay sounds whiny to me, on some parts (both literally and figuratively). Once I decided to put it on there, I initially had it as the last song but wanted to end on a stronger note. In an alternate universe, jay combined this and take over for a more potent diss.

11. Some people hate- I love this song, and it’s probably the song I go to most when I wanna here some motivation in the gym. Very strong performance from jay and the beat is dope.

12. I did it my way - I felt like this was a strong close to the album. It closes the first disk of the original album and I think it still does a good job of surmising my play list. There has and always will be “people talking” about what jay can and can’t do as an artist, some valid and some not, and I feel like the bp2 was an attempt to address some of those criticisms. Still, in the end, jay did things his way.

Thanks for watching (reading) my Ted Talk ;pachaha:

13. Popping Tags (Bonus). - honestly, I could replace all around the world with this and be fine but I listen to all around the world more so I went with that. Plus tried to keep the OG feel of the blue print with minimal features.

03 Bonnie and Clyde
The Watcher
Diamond is Forever
Some People Hate
nikka Please

Edit..gtg. I'll be back to organize this and finish it off

Keeping my overhead low, and my understand high
Why we don't cry when nikkaz die, that's how the street raised him
Look in the air, say a prayer hopin God forgave him
Cop liquor, twist it, tap it twice, pour it to the pavement
We live dangerous, often findin' ourself in the eyes of strangers

been thinking about these bars all morning...my old man on his deathbed and as much as it's gonna hurt I don't think I'ma cry
