People think a "beta" is a soft, pushover wimp. No he's just not the top guy. You can be a strong, confident, accomplished, tough beta. It's always funny when you see a room full of dudes all swearing they are alpha males. Everybody, shyt most people, can't be the top dog. I remember NBA 2K used to have personality badges for the players

they’d have a Alpha Dog badge and a Beta Dog badge

Players like Klay, CJ McCollum, Brad Beal, Kyrie Irving all had this badge and it essentially activated when their counterpart with the Alpha Dog badge was playing like ass.

If we're being honest this whole alpha/beta male thing arose from the decadence of this system of modern day capitalism. The alpha male archetype is really just a cool term for psychopath. And lot of the CEOs and elites we admire so much have psychopathic traits. Our obsession with "alpha" males is the end result of individualism taken to its highest extreme. Societies eventually erode when such types of people rule. It isn't sustainable.

In truth humans, in our natural element are a rather docile, laid back and cooperative species. In many primitive tribes such people with these psychopathic traits were admonished from the group because even they recognize the danger they posed. In some cases they were out right snuffed out with a rock to the back of the head or a spear to the chest.

The So-Called Alpha Male (SCAM for short), is the one currently on top of the hierarchy.
To deny this exists in humans is foolhardy...but the outcome is not really the same.
In the animal kingdom, the only benefits to being The SCAM are more puccy, and eat first.

However, the SCAM doesn’t really have to give a damn about leadership or the group,
as long as he eats and fuccs right. The true “Alpha” many times is the one called the “Lone Wolf“.

This second paragraph is how you know the “Alpha Males are leaders” concept is flawed. If the “Alpha” makes it hard for the other males, some other male (or the group) is gonna take him out.

Where people really got this whole thing misconstrued is the thought that seems to be “this particular
person (or myself) is a locked-in Alpha for life, because he has X personality”. But nah. Whatever
personality a man may have, there are times where he’s On Top and times where he isn’t - and there are
more variables which determine that. And again, that can change on a dime.
