I hate to say it but this only happens with black shows. I can't think of a popular white show that was off the air for two years in between seasons. They did the same shyt with Boondocks and Black Jesus.

'Curb Your Enthusiasm' would beg to differ.

Season 5 - 8 had ~2 year buffer each season from 2005 until 2011. 6 year buffer between season 8 and 9. There's been a 3 year buffer between 9 and 10 (which is premiering later this month).

You make a point and gave me an epiphany. With black shows to be greenlit now, they have to have star power outside of BET and Tyler Perry (Tyler Perry puts his name in front of his stuff so...).

Think of the voices that The Boondocks had and the actors on Black Jesus.

Langraff (head of FX) said they will keep renewing ATLANTA as long as Glover wants to do it. So he has the Larry David red carpet at FX. He can drop a new season 4 years from now if he wants.

Was just rewatching some episodes from season 2. Always somehow forget how fukking hilarious it is. Probably my favorite comedy show of all time

Donald, Lakeith, Tyree, and Zazie are all busy as hell. Tyree is now in the Marvel universe. Donald is dropping a Childish Gambino album sometime this year, lakeith has THREE movies coming out this year, as does Zazie

Yup its a miracle that they are even still making a new season.

maybe they wrap it up with 5 but they all are in heavy demand. I wasn’t even aware This Is America swept the Grammys. The awards that alluded Kanye and Beyonce for decades now.

It’s a good thing they get 2 years like that. Means they have power, usually if you have a popular show then tv execs want you to keep filming until they bleed the show dry
