I've seen this happen so many times. Usually the women will ask for a reasonable amount. The men want to pay almost nothing and would rather go to court. It always ends bad for them. One chick asked her ex husband for $800 a month for their 3 kids, he said no. Went to court, he ended up paying like $1500 or something.
