explain to me what the problem is?

is every school and every teacher currently failing them? are the children inherently dumb? is every parent from every student from 13 schools failing them?

or did they all fall behind when they were doing distance learning, something we know they all did, during the pandemic.

baltimore's school system has been notoriously trash for years, well before the pandemic

it's only so much you can aim the accountability beam at parents, when they more than likely had the same terrible education coming up. The overarching problem is systemic IMO

No it isn't.

-Good Parents dont let their kids fail overnight.

-Good students don't let themselves fail overnight.

-There are kids who still managed to pass during and after the pandemic.
so every parent from 13 schools are operating at the same level?

overnight? the pandemic was not an overnight thing some of these kids are a year (+) behind where they should be.

learning loss is going to vary especially depending on the age and development of the students at the time they were thrown into the pandemic distance learning.

A lot of people struggle to think in systems which is why these threads tend to go the same way every time, the blame falls at the feet of the parents. If we look deeper at the demographics of these schools, it's very likely that the students are disproportionately Black.

When people flock to these threads blaming parents, they're suggesting that Black people by and large are terrible at parenting their children.

It's both lazy and anti-Black. It's also the exact conclusion that the dominant society would like everyone to reach about Black people.

Ita fukked up out here for these young people.

Truly no hope at all for many …I don’t do as much direct service these days. But when I do interact with the youth, the amount that just have no hope or vision for the future at all is heartbreaking

Failure all around by the majority of the blame goes to the mother.

Nah…. How do you know she can pass the math exam her damn self…. And no accountability for the fathers I see….. :coffee: Out of 13 schools, nobody passed….Whatever prepping methods these schools are using ain’t working

Man, woman, and child
There’s alot of blame to go around for this. But part of the problem nobody mentions is the emphasis put on statewide testing. Teachers can’t teach the traditional way anymore because everything is centered around preparing kids for a state test instead of catering to the needs of the students. It’s one of the reasons my mother retired. She had enough of the bullshyt
