I think the series already has jumped the shark, they've never been realistic apart from the first one so obviously I don't watch them for realism, and I don't think they're horrible because I do enjoy watching them in the cinema because it's just a good action film to watch with Friends, but the amount of shyt in that last film that just straight up had me like

Fast is such an odd phenomenon of a franchise.

It defies all logic and reason. The dumber and more insane it gets,the bigger it gets. People embrace it in a way that I've never seen before.

Right lol, I think it was 6 where Dom gets launched of the front of a speeding car across a freeway and catches Letty in mid air (who has been launched from the front of a tank) landing onto another cars windscreen, I remember bursting out with laughter at how fukking ridiculous it was how they both just got up, like they both wouldn't have extreme spinal injury's if they did survive

Then in fast 7 you had

Dom and statham accelerating at top speed into each other then casually stepping out of each car, the car driving from the top of one skyscraper into another, the cars flying out of the plane, then rolling down a mountain still with no major injury, not to mention the fight between statham and Dom at the end that was nearly hulk vs hulk buster levels of destruction

Breh when Dom stomped on the ground and the building collapsed and how does Statham survive having a building fall on him

It's just so over the top and so stupid that you can't help but be entertained at just how far they can take it.

I've never seen a franchise dive head first into absurdity like this and be lauded for it. The movies even review well with critics

I think a big part of is the cast. People genuinely love the chemistry and the characters. So no matter how ridiculous the movies get the cast is their to center it.

I mean some of it makes sense in the way that the first film really was the definition of a cult classic. Feels like every person I know in my age group can quote that movie line for line. The franchise really did grow with an entire generation.

And the diversity of the cast as well which is the reason it's such a hit worldwide.
