I like what Denver can potentially do with their team. NY on the other hand is stuck, especially if they match Toronto for Lin.

Denver's best players weren't acquired through Melo trade. Gallo was terrible during the playoffs, Mozgov irrelevant.

I'm not gonna say NYK won but I think Denver lost. Here's why...

If they had just let Melo walk, they would have sucked this year and been in the Anthony Davis sweepstakes. You need a superstar in this league to win.

Instead, they got a bunch of decent pieces, which means a decent team, which means playoffs, but no real shot, which also means no lottery, which means no chance at getting the superstar necessary to make your team elite.

NY. The Nuggets have treaded water with the trade, the Knicks are better. Getting rid of D'Antoni was key for them.

Unquestionably Denver.

Melo was leaving Denver with or without this trade. Denver managed to lose him and keep a comparable level of talent...definitely a win.

On the flipside, there was a pretty good chance that NY was the team Melo chose to go toif he wasn't traded....they gave up far too much to get him.

Just cause Denver is a better team than NY dont mean they won. They both ultimately lost but Denver had no choice but to trade him really. Given the circumstances they did well for themsselves with the trade
