Long article but a great read. The idea of well-executed NBA D-Leauge is real exciting but it would surely dilute the talent available to the college game.

Well, once you go overseas your NBA dreams are over.

The NBA doesnt care about American players that go over seas.

That's far from the truth. The NBA keeps tabs on everyone that goes to Europe.

Now if you go to the Philippines or Australia, then yeah it's a wrap, but they always look for overseas talent.

:aicmon: nikkas undrafted players rarely get a shot in the NBA when they go over seas

I don't ever see the D-League taking off until they allow players straight out of high school to go to the league. They could even put a 1 or 2 year stipulation on it. If you do that then there's chance fans will follow it.

However for pure development of players it makes perfect sense to utilize their D-League teams. Like has been said for young players giving them a chance to play even against inferior competition can do a lot more for player development and seeing what you actually have on your hands while not risking your team's win/loss record.

I don't see them ever becoming a realistic 2nd choice for most guys who want to make it and don't make the NBA. They pay something like 25k for d-league rookies and 35k for vets right? That's ridiculous.
