Thanks
One time he did ask for 155 maybe against Lara. He didn't miss weight but he asked for 155 probably because he couldn't make 154.
It was because he didn't want to fight for the same WBA Championship that Floyd just beat him for in his previous fight. It was awarded to Lara, and instead of facing Lara in a Championship fight, at 155...the belt wouldn't be on the line.
And yeah maybe he won the belt at 155 but that was because Cotto was also a diva and that's a behaviour what he shouldn't follow imo...
Boxing is chaotic enough as it is with all the organizations, politics, numbers of weightclasses and champions... No need for boxers suit weightclass borders by their preferred taste now...
I don't really like titles being defended at Catchweights either. If Canelo wants to weigh in at 155, he should...but not putting a cap on someone wanting to weigh in at the full 160 limit. I don't like that too much, but hey, Canelo has earned the right to either tell someone to "fight me at 155 or beat it
" by winning the Championship in the 1st place
I fully support him saying that originally to GGG, but once he switched his tune to "I'll fight him next at 160" that's where I began to feel that he messed up.
Anyone else heard that Arum and Haymon supposedly buried the hatchet and now they're planning common fight?
I'm still sceptical though, seems too nice knowing Bob, Haymon and boxing politics in general.
If PBC and TR comes together, it would be for the best. I'd love to see Lomachenko & Walters vs the PBC featherweights. Felix Verdejo vs Robert easter Jr or Jamel Herring. Terence Crawford & Timothy Bradley vs the PBC 147lbers.
Boxing needs them to bury the hatchet and push forward the sport
