That's fine, but that is in a far different setting, then being in front of a live audience of 10k people. There are loads of people with personality and charismatic behind the scenes off camera, but try and get them to do public speaking they struggle.

Those 25 writers job is to accentuate what those guys strengths are. I met Roman Reigns at LA Fitness a couple years ago and dude was cool as hell, I can imagine anyone meeting Roman Reigns liking dude. If writers cant make what anyone that meets him sees in real life show itself on Raw, those writers have to be fired.

Yup.

They really gotta stop micro managing so hard, especially promos. The wrestlers don't even talk like adults in conflict outside of the what three months of wrestlemania season.

They've gotten away from "anything can happen on RAW" and it shows. Xavier Woods YouTube show is also a good example of guys having personalities. shyt instagram made me a Big E fan LONG before they let him show he's got charisma on tv

Wrestling is at its best when it isn't "neat" that's why house shows are so much fun
That there biggest problem I haven't even bother watching Raw & Smackdown/Nxt in months outside of ppv and I can pretty much watch a video package and be caught up on everything.
When you have no competition and have a whole bunch of sponsors and stockholders to answer to plus trying to erase the dirty images of what people think wrestling is this what happens.

You kind of missed my point, public speaking is a whole different level of presentation, then reciting lines and a director saying cut, let's redo again. It's like the comedian who can come up with punchlines and we'll crafted multi layed jokes, but when he gets on stage he shyts the bed. If you don't like that example, battle rap. There are guys with intricate penmanship good with the schemes and punches, that work better in a small room, but you get them in front of a large crowd on stage and they going against a someone who isn't as good with the pen , but knows how to take the crowd with performance and presentation, they generally lose. Presentation and Showmanship, is just as important as the writing is.

Good writing can be destroyed by shytty actors, but shytty writing can be saved by good actors.

So Roman is a good dude, he has more than enough pull to tell the writers this isn't good or we can change this? I don't believe a heavy pushed guy like Roman, doesn't have some input in what he says, when he is out there.

Yes the WWE writers are shytty, but the writing in films and TV in this era, is just as bad.

Agree with OP. They make guys stay one or two years to train and learn how to work for the hard camera. There's no excuse for Alexa and Enzo being the only good mic workers for the 2016 and 2017 debut class.

They need to focus more on backstage and pretaped promos for the majority of wrestlers while letting the people who get a reaction regardless (Roman) or competent on the mic.

Because it's a roster of people with no natural charisma

That really is the problem. There's a big difference between likable in real life and knowing how to act or emote in front of a camera or in front of a live audience.

Agreed with most of this, except for the part I've put in bold. TV is better than ever now. There's so much good TV out there and there's just not enough time to watch it all. But I can't remember the last time I really wanted to go see a movie.

These 10-15 min promos just don't work anymore. They're long winded, they kill the crowd and no one remembers what these guys were talking about the week after. The stories are uneventful and nothing happens week after week. RAW is 3 hours long, nothing happens and nobody really has a well defined arc or character. None of this is going to change until Vince agrees to overhaul his entire format though.

.

Sorry, I should of put the new generation of writers. Because the people who've written Mad Men, Justified, BCS, BB, The Knick, GoT, these guys have been writing for years and years and had success on various shows. Take the writing for DC shows Super girl, Flash and Arrow, the first season very strong, Arrow had 2nd strong season, why the former 2 shows the level of first season has tailed off in season 2. It took Arrow 2 years to get back what they had. Or even The Walking Dead, 1st season exceptional, once Darabont left, the writing fell off, especially for a character driven show, when the writing has to be as a minimum, good.

Also Hollywood need to reboot everything or trilogy films/TV shows a lack of creativity. Given there are only 8/9 stories you can use, but it's been that way for the history of time.

1. The wrestlers are being asked to memorize entire promos instead of being given some bullet points and filling in the blanks organically. If the talent doesn't buy into the material it's never going to translate to the audience

2. Only thing separating 90% of the roster is attire and theme music. Character depth is at an all time low. There's very little about guys to get emotionally attached to
