I don't care if it's WWE, WWF, WCW, NWA and the territories, the #1 attribute in wrestling is the ability to cut a promo and get yourself over as a character before you even step foot in the ring. If you are a special talent like a Brock Lesnar or you have something else about your look that stands out maybe you can get by but other than that you gotta be able to talk. Wrestling is important also, that's why Enzo will probably never rise above midcard fodder status but look at all the biggest stars going back to the 80s, they can all talk.

TJP, Tony Nese, hate to say it but even Cesaro... :francis:

You watch most of these indy shows and everyone's character is "I can WRESTLE!" or "I'm an MMA fighter!" :hhh:

they're told to be actors

From scripts to the emotions to convey

Like guy above said some people have it, some people dont. Then again WWE wants them cutting 10 mins promos for something that should take no more than 2 mins

Isn't the Performance Center supposed to do that? :mjpls:

Not sure how much of Dusty's death had an affect on this. As he was leading those classes iirc.
They should have Corino, Regal and Nigel taking those classes. If they aren't already.

But I think what the issue is and this goes back to the lack of inring psychology being taught, there aren't the guys about to teach how to cut money promos. In the last 10-15 years , who can we say is a strong engaging promo?

Also the lack of vignettes which helped guys in the past is a thing of the past as well. Having 60-90 seconds to get your point across, helps develop with pacing, timing and delivery as you don't allow yourself to fill your mind with what else do I need to say.

If you watch swerved, ride along, etc you'd see a lot of guys have a lot more character to them than they show on television. Look at Neville. Blame the writers.

That's fine, but that is in a far different setting, then being in front of a live audience of 10k people. There are loads of people with personality and charismatic behind the scenes off camera, but try and get them to do public speaking they struggle.

Yup.

They really gotta stop micro managing so hard, especially promos. The wrestlers don't even talk like adults in conflict outside of the what three months of wrestlemania season.

They've gotten away from "anything can happen on RAW" and it shows. Xavier Woods YouTube show is also a good example of guys having personalities. shyt instagram made me a Big E fan LONG before they let him show he's got charisma on tv

Wrestling is at its best when it isn't "neat" that's why house shows are so much fun
