Aight I'm not the biggest Football fan. But doesn't the offensive line tackle and get risk of CTE because they are defending the Quarterback and Running Back?
Oline do get CTE cause each play they can bang their head against dlinemen esp center. But it's rare to get concussion. It dies happen tho. But rare. Most olinemen end up with bad backs and knees.

Myron Rolled and Laurent Duvernay-Tardif became medical doctors too.
Yup. Some other NFL players have degrees for Engineering and Math as well. I know Chase Blackburn has a math degree.

Luke Fortner who is currently the Jags' starting center has a Master's in Aerospace Engineering.

A lot of NFL players are physically equally matched or outmatched, so their processing, technique, etc. got to be on another level in order to standout and succeed.

Offensive Linemen ain't exactly the safest of positions either:

It's still football at the end of the day.

It's not necessarily the blows to the head, but how much your head wobbles which ends up wobbling your brain against your skull. You can get a concussion if your body takes a hard enough hit so you get a whiplash effect causing your head to rock back or you hit the floor and it creating the same effect. You can get a concussion if you nod your head too hard.

They definitely do risk concussions and get them. But they're a little bit less common. Defenders rarely target them, they're trying to get around them. And they rarely lead with their heads, partly because they're so tall and partly because on 90% of plays they're trying to stay on their feet and maintain their position, whether run blocking or pass blocking, rather than blowing some single defender up.

I'm guessing that the main time o-linemen catch concussions are on goalline/short yardage plays or turnovers.

Dude was pursuing his PhD at M.I.T and published six math papers while playing in the NFL.

That's probably one of the craziest feats you'll hear of from an athlete. Think how difficult and rare doing one of those things is.

Next level stuff.

Good to see these kinds of stories.

Yeah, CTE was first found in Mike Webster, who was an offensive lineman during the Steelers dynasty years of the 1970s.

Ok and don't offensive lineman also play as a defensive lineman as well, or are they completely different positions?

There's literally a rocket scientist starting at QB right now:

Don't forget Myron Rolle, All-American safety and drafted by the Titans, but now a neurosurgeon with both an MD from Florida State and an MSc in Medical Anthropology from Oxford.

Myron never played a game in the NFL though.
