Of course the ATL
I haven't seen a projection higher than 11th in the East for us. This is the Sports Illustrated projection

ATLANTA HAWKS: THIS IS PRETTY UGLY
Looking at their roster, I’m wondering, Can we please play them six times this year? Wow, man. Dennis Schröder is your best player. He played really well at Eurobasket, but man. I’m glad I’m not a season-ticket holder there. ... When you [lose] the locker room presence and solid foundational pieces like Al Horford and Paul Millsap, it almost creates a vacuum. ... How quickly can we figure out if DeAndre’ Bembry is a starting two guard? How quickly can we get John Collins going? This team could be in for a long season. ... I think Kent Bazemore is a bench guy, but on this team he’s going to have to average 14 or 15 field goal attempts per game. I just don’t think he’s a natural offensive guy. He’s always been a really good defender, but he’s making $16.9 million this season and last year shot 41% from the field. Geez. ... If you’re a really good team, I don’t know that Taurean Prince is playing more than 18 minutes a game for you. There’s nothing to really sink your teeth into with his game. ... Atlanta’s centers are just all different looks. Mike Muscala is a finesse player who has kind of grown into the position, but there’s not much physicality to him. Dewayne Dedmon can rebound, block shots and play defense. If you could [combine] the three different centers they have there, you’d have a really good player. You could take Dedmon’s defense and Muscala’s footwork, and you could use Miles Plumlee’s face-up shooting. But individually, none of those three are really bona fide starter material.

The Hawks roster is set for now after the team released Quinn Cook, Jeremy Evans and Tyler Cavanaugh tonight.

Cook is the most surprising of the cuts. The Hawks signed Cook as a possible third point guard and paid him $100,000 guarantee. But the team released Cook before he was owed another $300,000 on Wednesday and now have Josh Magette as the third point guard on the roster.

Cavanaugh’s contract includes $50,000 guaranteed. He’s expected to join the Hawks’ G-League affiliate if he clears waivers.

The Hawks roster now stands at 14 players, one less than the maximum. That doesn’t include Magette, who is on a “two-way” contract that allows a maximum of 45 days on the NBA roster with the balance of the season spent at the team’s G-League affiliate in Erie, PA.

The Hawks have 12 players with fully guaranteed contracts. Two players have partially-guaranteed contracts: Luke Babbitt and Nicolas Brussino.

Half of Babbitt‘s $2 million salary is guaranteed and the rest becomes guaranteed on Dec. 14. All but $400,000 of Brussino’s $1.3 million salary is guaranteed. By rule, the balance of each player’s contract becomes guaranteed if they are on the roster after Jan. 7.

Here is my best guess at the projected Hawks depth chart, based on how coach Mike Budenholzer distributed minutes over the final two exhibition games and with the reality that the wing and front court positions are interchangeable. (Marco Belinelli is slotted where he’ll be once he’s healthy).

Point guard: Dennis Schroder, Malcolm Delaney, Josh Magette

Shooting guard: Kent Bazemore, Marco Belinelli, DeAndre’ Bembry, Tyler Dorsey

Small forward: Taurean Prince, DeAndre’ Bembry, Luke Babbitt, Nicolas Brussino

Power forward: Ersan Ilyasova, John Collins, Mike Muscala

Center: Dewayne Dedmon, Mike Muscala, John Collins, Miles Plumlee*

*Out for at least two weeks because of injury

@Malta @tremonthustler1 @Gil Scott-Heroin i respect you guys opinions on a national scale, is this the worst starting 5/roster in basketball? I can't think of one worse :jbhmm:

Whoa whoa, Babbitt is gone be playing the 3? He always struck me more as tweener (leaning more to the 4), but I guess Ersan and Collins need more mins there than he does,

True but I think a bigger question that needs to be asked is how much do Hawks brehs really care. And I don't mean about this trade but about this season. We're barely at 5 pages and the season starts in a few days. I'd be interested to hear the interest level from #Set on a Hawks team that is going to be awful this yr

Well last year you and @#1 pick were debating about Horford/Dwight and that alone was 5 pages, so eliminate that and we got the 6 pages we're at now:russ::lolbron:

I just hope people care...I sense a high level of apathy around this team. Our best player is Dennis Schroeder and it's not even close, think about that for a sec

Who's the next best player on this team? WOAT? Collins? Prince? This team is gonna be horrible, worse than I expected

Best player is a dikkhead and I despise rooting for him :pacspit:
Only lottery pick on the roster looks like a JAG:beli:
Random ass euros and taking minutes from players with a possible future :martin:
Baze :scusthov:
The fact that Bud will somehow get this trash ass team to overachieve and end up with 30+ wins picking in the bottom half of the lottery :francis:

This season really not looking too hot. Definitely an "NBA fan first and Hawks fan second" kind of year

Dennis being more of a facilitator instead of an attacker but the times he does take it to the hole he finishes.

Still the best finisher on the team
