A Good Thing About This Is Even Though I Have ALL My Music In iTunes I Only Have Some Of It On My iPhone, Nice To Combine The Two And Have Everything On My Phone

dont need no cloud. I use goodplayer to stream music and videos from my linux server VPN to my iphone

I'm not real keen on uploading my music collection to google's servers. Call me paranoid, but that's just not something I've been looking forward to doing.
But, not even worrying about that, the only way one of 'em would be used (Google Play, iTunes Match), is if there was no cap on how many songs you could upload. iTM's 25,000 is simply not worth my time, let alone GP's 20,000. And even then, if they removed the song cap, it would take forever to upload my collection.
I have a Droid RAZR, and it has an app called Motocast. I install Motocast on my Mac, pick what folders I wanna share, then run it on my phone. The first time you run it it has to load the shyt, so it takes awhile. After that, I can fire up Motocast, and have my entire music collection ready and waiting to stream. No uploading. No iTunes Match. No Google.

How long does it take to upload your songs to Google? The beauty of iTunes Match is that you don't actually upload your songs, iTunes replaces your copy with their copy of the song - so illegal downloads become official along with the original album art and album info. It's pretty good, but free is obviously better, so I'm curious about the Google process.

I don't own any Apple products. I just work for em.
I prefer being able to replace my own battery and memory by my damn self.

Son I've been rocking with google music from day 1, glad you iphone people finally got that haha.

You tell it to upload your itunes folder and let it sit there for a couple hours. I think you get 25 gigs free. Once it's in the cloud you can download it from the web anytime, anywhere.
There's also standalone independent apps/widgets for the pc, mac and ubuntu.
