From a Kayfabe Perspective, Why Hasn't Sting Gotten a Title Run?

Nobody has been able to hurt Stang. He's diving through tables, no selling offense, and laughing off chairshots at 87 years old. This new version of Sting is like mixing Sabu with Terry Funk, giving him a half ounce of pure Columbian flake, and then putting his sliders on max.
Besides, Sting beat prime Vader, Hulkkk Hoegan, and Muta. Moxley & his shoulder rolling would be light work for the Man They Call the Man They Call.
:yeshrug:

I appreciate how you think/book :salute:

Need that Sting with the belt AEW fig :blessed:

Bias aside

Kind of. ..

Sting winning for a VERY SHORT stint as champion in a Terry Funk Barely Legal 97 manner would make a level of sense

he doesn’t move, look, nor seem like a 63 year old with the miles he has on him. And he has the good will of most not named @Prince-Vegeta

Would take some smart storytelling but the old dog winning one last big one is a story that resonates

I think in one of his first in ring promos, he said he was there specifically to help with the new wave of wrestlers, specifically Darby.

From a NON kayfabe standpoint, I think it's because he'd need to be carried by a relatively safe guy, and Jericho and Hangman were the closest two they've had.

He'd have to steal a win in a multi man match. It could work. I'd avoid 1v1s until he needs a quick defense and then when he ultimately drops it.

This. If anything, you could argue that Darby/Sting should go after the tag titles instead. But even then, it's not like he regularly wrestles.

Thank you, and you're right. The "old guy" coming back for one last shot at the gold is a classic wrestling storyline. Sting could win the title, and then get his first loss to put over a young guy, or he could win and then retire which could cause a tournament for Sting's vacated belt.

With all the BUM ASS nikkas they’ve given tnt title reigns recently i’d have ZERO problem with one more sting title run given the right opponent. Heel punk could work.

Keep him far the fucck away from Mox.

I'm pretty sure there will be a Sting vs Punk match for the title at some point before Punk drops it but I doubt Sting would want the title at this point. As someone above me already said Sting at this point of his career is just having fun out chea.

Tony Khan should hire Ric Flair and have a Jim Crockett Promotions/WCW reunion and when Sting least expects it, have Flair, Arn Anderson, and Tully Blanchard beat Sting within an inch of his life for old times sake! @puppetmaster

I’ma fan of doing like 1 week late run transitional reigns for hall of famers. It just has to be book responsibly…like MJF has the title, has nuclear heat, dominates the match physically, then somebody comes out and screws him.
