I absolutely love sweet fried plantain, its my favorite by far. My Jamaican friend makes plantain bread with blueberries for my birthday every year. I'll try and share some recipes.

How crispy are those plantains?

I prefer getting the green ones and smashing them flat and then frying them. Then sprinkle with salt and garlic powder.

Do you think I could do the same with the ripe ones? Like smash them flat and then theyll be crispy or are they gonna stay soft?


those are tostones and you need the green plantains cause they're harder

ripe plantains will never get that crispy

we Latinos call the ones in this thread maduros

if you get them really ripe, like the outside is black, you get something that looks like this

and then you can make pastelon which is like a lasagna but with plantains instead of the noodles
