yup. the warm up and friday night lights were mixtape classics. its the reason why i was so disappointed in trash ass sideline story.

And nobody in those Sony/Columbia offices really supported him either. Thought he was arrogant and was about to bomb. Didn't believe the fanbase mattered. I will disagree that he could have put out the tape as the album with one of the singles he eventually found. Because they didn't believe in him, they outright weren't gonna clear those samples. It's still not up on streaming to this day. He had to drop that shyt first and it worked. The buzz was undeniable but labels are stupid as fukk back then.

Also anyone claiming Cole was thought to be "boring" back then is lying. That shyt didn't become a meme/idea until Born Sinner years later.
