One thing a lot of foreigners don't realise is that India is a very diverse place ethnically. Sure we're all varying shades of brown, but there's thirty different languages excluding English that have at least one million speakers.

So our regional identity is more important than our nationality. Southerners stick together because we got more in common with each other than with the north, and vice versa. It's not a unified country, you go certain places and it's like you're a foreigner because you don't speak the language, eat the same food or have the same culture as the locals.

It really isn't for me. I'm from Australia by the way. I would be proud to call a black man my brother in law or son in law. shyt, if I didn't have the utmost respect and admiration for black people and black culture I wouldn't even be on this site!

But there's over 1 billion Indian people and with such a large sample size of course you're going to get a few hundred million on that shyt. What can I do to change it?

On the topic of interracial marriages, it's because our parents are narrow minded as fukk and don't want to have to get linked to a family that is not from the same ethnic background through marriage, for the selfish reason that they simply find it easier to be with like people. But this goes beyond Indian - Black or Indian - White or whatever else. It goes into Indian - Indian. Tamils will end up with Tamils 9 times out of 10, instead of getting with Punjabis or another distant ethnic group from India.

My post was in response to the numerous posts referring to Indians being lumped in as black in GB and participating in the "struggle" which is true and was already known by me since I studied this stuff in college.

However, lets call a spade a spade here. The identification was by force, not choice and since then the South Asian community has adjusted accordingly.

You're right, the way Indians treat foreigners is pretty revolting and there's no excuse for it.

There were a lot of crossover between black and Asians politically in the 1970's, as they were both targeted by various groups including the police and far right racist groups.

If you're actually interested start with groups like the Black Unity and Freedom party.

But yes things did change, as Indians got their foot on the ladder and moved on up...
