I mean if he’s gonna keep the same energy.

Dude is too corny, he think’s his realness is defined by him being sensitive bytch who beefs with everyone. It’s been that way since the beginning of his season, when he started dissing Jeezy cause Jeezy couldn’t make him a superstar

I get that you dont like Gibbs but thats not how it was. i remember clearly Gibbs hitting up Curren$y to finish it up and them joking about how Spitta be too high to finish it…then Spitta went and knocked out like 5 joints straight and sent it to Gibbs and Gibbs responding on IG

4:18 mark he talks about it

Damn shame they couldnt get past it. They were cool after Fetti dropped even with Gibbs expressing his frustration on that Joe Budden pull up

Bruh. Gibbs is an herb, but come on man. They said the record took 2 days total to record after waiting 2 years for Spitta lmao. The Spitta dikkriding campaign in this thread leading up to this revelation is hilarious. Got people just making shyt up to protect Spitta.

The rest of the interview where he talks about Gibbs being safe to make a record with because he wouldn't do sucker shyt is also hilarious. That shyt bit him in the ass :pachaha:Nowadays Gibbs is known for doing sucker shyt just as much as his raps.

You can say whatever you want about how Gibbs is talking out of line, but trying to pretend like Fetti wasn't dope is crazy. That album was fire, and the only reason it gets treated like an afterthought is because of exactly what Gibbs is complaining about. It's only a "glorified mixtape" to you because it didn't get pushed. Shoot a couple videos and I have no doubt it's a top mention for best collabs of the 2010s. People just completely forget about the album because it got dropped and abandoned.

Meanwhile thanks to the blueprint Spitta laid everybody drops “glorified mixtapes” now. Like what does that even mean. Literally bc of the model currensy ushered in, there is no real differentiation between mixtape and album. They are just ‘projects’ and they stream all the same

That album was never going mainstream. Video or not. Currensy has countless videos for ‘mixtapes’ that never go mainstream. That project did exactly what it was supposed to which was expose Freddie to currensy’s fanbase which dwarfed Freddie’s at that time. Why did they even make an album? Bc of their chemistry on another “glorified mixtape” from Spitta, Covert Coup. What was Covert Coup? Part of the blueprint Spitta laid with artist-producer mixtapes. How did Freddie overcome the Jeezy years and get into the lane thats given him his fame and Grammy nods? Artist-producer collabs :stopitslime:First with madlib….then with alchemist (10 years after Spitta did it)

So I’m a fan of both, but my ngga ‘He didn’t make a video’??? Ngga he gave him a whole blueprint :mjtf:

No one is talking about the album going mainstream, we're talking about how it has been constantly overlooked. The quality of Fetti is up there with the rest of his acclaimed projects yet it never gets mentioned in the same breath, why? Freddie says people sleep on it and he blames Spitta's refusal to promo the album after it dropped. I think it makes sense, because I see it too.

Are you claiming Fetti is not a quality tape and thus doesn't deserve acclaim? Cuz I think most people who heard the album would disagree with you.

Also, Gibbs was already doing single producer tapes before Fetti... His first was with Statik Selektah, then with DJ Fresh, years before Pinata. I don't think you know what you're talking about.

:what:

This is make believe. Acclaim from WHO?! Currensy may have 100 mixtapes by now :dead: All of em ain’t gon be talked about (and again, from who. The source? Grammys? Complex? What outlets give ANY spitta project acclaim)

Fetti is great. But saying ANY currensy project is ‘slept on’ doesn’t even make sense

As far as the collab blueprint, read my post again. I didn’t say Fetti was his first. I said he didn’t have a collab album til after Spitta did it. Spitta teamed with Ski for pilot talk in 2010. Then alchemist for covert coup in 2011. East coast producers. Then AFTER those, next thing you know Freddie did his with Statik—-an east coast producer :patrice:after he had been with a southerner Jeezy the whole time :beli:

I know diehard currensy fans who couldn’t pinpoint their exact favorites bc there’s that many. Fetti is great. But saying ANY currensy project is ‘slept on’ doesn’t even make sense
I'm saying from Freddie's perspective. Album is up there with Gibbs' best work. Everybody knows Curren$y has like a million joints no one has the time to listen to.

My bad, I did read it wrong. Gibbs came out rapping over anything and everything though, so I wouldn't try to put him in a southern or midwest box before Covert Coup. The first songs that got him attention were over the beats to Flamboyant and 93 Til Infinity.

Curren$y definitely one of the influencers for the underground formula that everyone follows now, but it's not like he was looked at like a trendsetter at the time when others were also doing the same. There were a lot of rappers linking with single producers around then. Blu & Exile, DJ Fresh, Killer Mike & El P, Madvillainy, etc. That's just off the top of my head. Spitta is more known for Alchemist specifically switching to that formula, rather than rappers like Freddie. I can't give Spitta credit for that.
