You know I have no problem with Cotto-Canelo. In fact I am looking forward to it. It is a great matchup and fight. I am just saying is Cotto really a MW or does he want to pretend. If he wants to keep taking fights to defend his belt, he can only do it for so long after people start calling out what he does.

If Cotto decided he isnt a MW and drops the belt after Canelo (assuming he wins), I would have no problems with him and wouldn't think any less. Let's say he wins and wants to keep fighting catchweight fights (and not look for GGG) defending his belt, that is when he needs to be called out for holding a belt hostage with his attempts to be a MW.

It is all good though, GGG is the mandatory so the winner of Cotto-Canelo will have some explaining to do if they don't want to fight GGG, because we know GGG is eager to take on either guy.

At this point in his career I totally understand and respect Cotto making the business decision to only want to take fights that are going to make bank. Wouldn't even be mad at him if he beat Canelo and dropped the MW belt instead of fighting Golovkin at 160 since Cotto has never really been a MW anyway.
