Man, the features on Piñata where do I start: Let's start w/ the fact that mc's nowadays don't want to give extra unless they get extra money. And I don't even know why so many emcees can't come w/ energy on features, I think it is intentional. If you don't want to work, get the fukk out of the studio.
I hope Gibbs didn't just do a one off w/ Cookin Soul. I'm one of the few people that thinks Gibbs doesn't need any features. He can do his own hooks, he has dope ear for selecting tracks & the right energy. I'm on #TeamNoFeaturesonGibbsRecords

That's what I'm talking about. There needs to be a new career position in Hip Hop called a "Feature Judge" and this person judges if the feature is up to par for the artist they are working w/. This would clear the deck real fast. Not to reminisce but features in the nineties were more of an event not just a passing marketing tool. When the beat dropped you tried your best to get that rewind moment. If you didn't, they cut you off the record.
Feature Judges would fukk the game up. So many people would be broken down right there, phones taken away, game systems taken away, instead what do we get? People who sound like they don't want to be there. So many features would be cut & so many artists would either sink or swim. Plus a lot of these on autopilot rappers would understand "Uh oh, the game has changed"

Because the blogs didn't do their job and it got buried by nonstop trap cookie cutter nonsense. Cooking Soul, a production team actually cares about making something banging on a system. The saturation of dime a dozen artists trying to get their 1 hit & not do anything for the culture. The door slam needs to be heard more by people who are deliberately trying not to be creative.
