That pay seems really high compared to what they pay their Asian employees. I wonder how much of this plant will be automated and run by "supervisors" making 53k.

Until Democrsts say nobody will work for 50k a year :francis:

States paying them 3billion dollars. It will be interesting to see how it shifts after they stop getting those incentives.

Agreed. At least the infrastructure investment, which I'm assuming to be in the billions, will have to stay here so its a disincentive for Foxconn to leave right after the tax rebates are up.

Hopefully they can afford to put nets on the building to catch jumpers.

Some notes

- Average salary of the jobs is around $53K plus benefits.
- 3,000 jobs at first and will increase over time
- In addition to the direct 13,000 jobs, its estimated it will also create 22,000 incidental jobs
- 10,000 temporary construction jobs will also be created from this
- Government (local, state and federal combined) tax incentives total between $1-3B over time
- Foxconn private investment around $10B over time

Some political notes:

- The factory is within Paul Ryan's congressional district
- The factory is within a swing state Trump won narrowly, and will presumably push for again in 2020

Apple will bring jobs back to the US for end electronics and future projects like a true Apple TV. From what I know, no jobs or factories will be lost in Asia. I think this a political move but this probably part of Apples long term plans. Apple and Foxconn just don't magically redesign their production and move their supply-chain from Asia to the US. It isn't as easy as Trump makes it sound.
