Yeah, nothing in there was new (actually I would say the book is relatively weak, since it basically rehashes a bunch of arguments by older New Testament scholars,) but there was the usual litany of arguments- for example, that Jesus was in fact crucified which, as I understand it, contradicts the Muslim story.
No doubt but the Islamic claim is that the people we're made to believe Jesus was crucified when he in fact was not and ascended to heaven, so since this point of contention is grounded in theology and the supernatural, it is hard to see really how historical evidence can oppose or confirm such a conclusion.
Have you read the book? I am not really personally interested all that much in stuff like that (im under 65) but the idea that a "muslim" cant write a book about Jesus or any other historical figure is beyond the realm of reason moreso than the supernatural.
here's the thing. if you say he isnt the messiah. therefore you are saying something bad about him. its like saying lebron is a NBA Player but he aint no 2 time champ/ 2 time mvp. he's just a solid role player. uhh you have just downgraded LBj's standing. thats offensive.Did the book say anything bad about Jesus? I don't see what the big deal is the guy is a scholar he has every right to write a book.
Don't muslims view Jesus in high regard? They see him as a prophet they just differ in their opinion of him as the messiah. Ultimately if your a Christian and you have strong faith in Jesus i can't see how a book is going to sway your opinion
again, if said korean never writes about a great korean warrior of ATG's equivalent, then you have to wonder whats going on there. the question then becomes why are you so fascinated by that bible when you believe in islam? when you dont believe Jesus the christian bible version to be who he is.This is a HISTORICAL book, that's what's mind boggling about this line of questioning from her. It's like saying well you're Korean, why are you writing about Alexander the Great?
again, if said korean never rights about a great korean warrior of ATG's equivalent, then you have to wonder whats going on there. the question then becomes why are you so fascinated by that bible when you believe in islam? when you dont believe Jesus the christian bible version to be who he is.
