The problem we have with majority of the youth, is they don’t see baseball as glamorous as the nfl or basketball and the notoriety they get from it…or rappers talking about it anymore

They are fixed on quick money not long term guaranteed money and u can last longer than 3 to 4 years

People forget this part. A good baseball player's career can literally last from high school until they move into Larry Holmes Gardens.

I have to disagree
A black baseball prospect will usually have the right people around him, understand MLB contracts, and isn't concerned about "quick money".
In 2024, HS baseball players understand this, black student-athletes included.

Barriers to entry being expensive, less likely to be swayed on "quick money".

Also mentioning "They are fixed on quick money not long term guaranteed money" excuses the adults in control.

Breh when rappers were making Baseball puns and rhymes...it hit so different compared to NFL and NBA bars.

Hell, Camp Lo made me do the pennant stance:

Shiiiiit man:

See, the problem with baseball involving popularity is that it's a patience game. You got to embrace the innings and understand the fundamentals of strategy.

  • Knowing when to go for the base
  • The accuracy of the wind with the swing
  • Coming up with a crazy throw combination to fukk up the batter
  • Dealing with pressure
The game is hard AF that even Deion was like :whoa: like I rather catch CTE than to deal with that stress.

Its legit a game of patience and intelligence. Compared to Football and Basketball, where its all about movement and fast-paced/no thought just run or shoot philosophy.

It's not that.

It's accessibility. It's hard to:

1. Get into baseball at young age and be willing to organize non-official games, unlike basketball
2. Get into youth leagues because the sport is extremely expensive
3. Get good enough to travel (also expensive)
4. Get good enough to get noticed and recruited
5. Find people, especially kids/teens, that even like to watch the game.

If baseball seemed remotely realistic for youth athletes to pursue they would. They feel their chances of making the NBA/NFL is much higher than the MLB, and they likely didn't grow up fans of the sport anyway.

FALSE.....these are the typical CAC talking points when it comes to baseball

Just like @CarltonJunior mentioned here
