Ex-UFC Star Kenny Florian: Boxing Is Finished After Floyd/Manny Mega-Fight
jYCuwoe.jpg

Ex-UFC fighter Kenny Florian says boxing's days are numbered ... and the number is 64 ... 'cause that's how many days are left until the Mayweather/Pacquiao showdown, which Florian tells TMZ Sports is the sport's last hurrah.

Florian -- who was a UFC badass from '05 to '12 -- was out at The Grove in L.A. when we asked him about the future of the other sport where guys break each other's faces.

Check out the clip -- Kenny says after Mayweather and Manny dance ... the music is going to stop ... because all of the big stars in combat sports are over in the UFC ... and NOT in pro boxing.

Synopsis of the video: Florian says that Floyd/Manny is the last big fight left for boxing; boxing has no new name stars unlike UFC; UFC is being seen more and is taking over.

I only watching ufc and never boxing. The only reason why boxing is still even relevant is because of mayweather. Once hes gone the sport will officially be dead. Everyone knows mma is the shyt now.

KungFu Fighting & kicks that are fast as Lightning
He's right tho, after that fight (or fight series) it can only go downhill from there

But it's possible that bringing boxing back to network TV in March might help boost it's popularity

But right now 9 outta 10 people care more about MMA than boxing these days, This isn't the 1960s-90s anymore

Kids don't even know who the boxing heavyweight champion of the world is these days (once the most important title in sports)

Yet boxing consistently does better than MMA in PPV buys and TV ratings.

Hard to compare PPV buys when the UFC has a PPV about once every 3 weeks. Link for the better TV ratings? Not saying I don't believe you, it would just be interesting to see the numbers.
