The best gameplan for sports figure with women, is to just have fun while you're playing. Average retirement age is like 30 or something, unless you are a star player. 30 is plenty of time to settle down and have kids. No need to do it while you're are in the league whether it's football, soccer, NBA etc. Thats too much exposure at that point to meet a good woman, like Lavar said. Now as a former athlete and as a bit of a "has been" you chances of landing a good woman go up.

Unless she was a high school/college sweetheart, and that's iffy, a professional athlete shouldn't get married until at least five years after retirement.
