Cats are naming a lot of good games but one of the best games I've ever played is "The Lurking Horror":

It was a text based game by Infocom, similar to "Zork". The OG "Zork", not the sequels or remakes with graphics. These games were kind of like "Choose Your Own Adventure", you could type in prompts of what you wanted your character to do. It takes place on a college campus during a blizzard and is loosely based on the writings of H.P. Lovecraft.

shyt is crack. You can download it for free, turn down the lights and use your imagination. The game is pretty creepy.
