Yeah, that's exactly what happens. Sometimes people get the odd surprise when they find out they were sampled or used in an ad campaign and they get a big cheque. but they usually do just get smaller and smaller to the point of nothing for most. You have to be a pretty big name to have big cheques coming over long periods of time. Most major artists don't own all they publishing though, some own none.

Why do you cats think 50 would walk with his catalogue? What artist has done that in the past? Interscope paid for the creation of those albums so unless 50 or someone else buys them out they are always going to maintain the rights to them, it's the industry standard.
