For those who remember, who were the big names on the indy scene in the early 00's?

I am NOT a sex offender
I remember Air Paris being touted as just as good as AJ. However rather than walk AJ's path of christ he walked my path of crack.

Actually weren't AJ and Air Paris a team in the final days of WCW? Am I imagining this?

I remember a guy named Xavier being a staple on those early ROH shows. I don't, however, even remember what he looks like. Just the name.

He beat Low Ki for their title too and he never got over :wow:

It's crazy how many of those early 00s dudes never amounted to anything: SATs, Quiet Storm, Trent Acid, Ruckus, Jonny Storm, Jody Flesich, etc

Xavier was one of those weird fixations Gabe Sapolsky has for people who isn't that great. Like Johnny Gargano (But Gargano is wayyyy better than Xavier, who should never have been ROH champion)

I think Xavier just disappeared after his ROH run, dude was never seen again :heh: Daniels was doing his whole schtick that long ago. Amazing Red and Ki were doing their matrix matches. Mike Modest was around, was in Beyond the Mat along with another guy that JR was hinting should hit the roids. Doug Williams was around early on in ROH. Different times :wow:

I bet a bunch of those dudes from CZW/IWA MS in that time frame are messed up, that homemade meth :mjcry: At least in ECW they had normal everyday drugs, Ian Rotten hands you some powder and it's likely to be half coke and half cyanide :dame:

I can't believe Nick Gage is still here:wow:

for real if I was TNA or GFW I would hire him for fukkery's sake

:noah: @ the bolded.

man i remember when CZW hit local TV and was buzzin on some next-level chit.

i thought alot of those guys were the future. the only ones that really got somewhere were sonjay dutt & chris hero. and the SATs had their brief stint in TNA. they had the goat tag team finisher.

edit: not 100% sure the SATs were in CZW.

It's funny, by reading all of the Apter magazines in the mid/late 90s I knew who the indy guys were but once the internet exploded, I didn't read about that shyt anymore.

That first wave of ROH was what everyone was buzzing about in 2002/2003. AJ Styles, Christopher Daniels, Samoa Joe, Paul London, CM Punk, Spanky, Low Ki, Trent Acid, American Dragon, Joey Matthews, Xavier, Christian York... Damn, that's a tough roster :whew:

And TNA had damn near every one of them and still fukked it all up. :wow:

lol @ "my path of crack"
