For those who didn't like the Force Awakens, what would you do differently?

No Whammies!!
-Rethink the entire concept of the First Order. It makes little sense to have it just be The Galactic Empire under another name. Boring and lazy.

-Get rid of the Starkiller base entirely. Not only is it just a stupid massively exaggerated version of a Death Star, but having something SO overpowered show up in the first movie of a trilogy makes the stakes impossible to match. It's like Season 2 of 24 when they actually let off a nuclear bomb early on in the season. The show would never ever be able to match that again, so why do that so early?

-Flesh out the New Republic before blowing it up. Who even cared about all the planets that got destroyed in this one?? Maybe show us why the New Republic wasn't effective.

-If you have a super-powered Dark Jedi character, no non-trained/non-force using characters should EVER last more than a couple of seconds against them with a light saber. What would happen in real life if someone like an MMA fighter had to fight a katana dual with a real Samurai from Imperial Japan? The real samurai would literally "Iaido" chop him down in one motion during the act of drawing his sword.

-Overall, don't just make all ships, uniforms, logos, etc. just slightly altered versions of the original trilogy versions. AT LEAST the prequels had some creativity...

Finn would be a story similar to Darth Revan. He was once a Jedi, turned Sith, killed a lot of Jedi's as a knight of ren because the Jedi killed his father mace windu, gets betrayed by his partner, nearly dies, loses his memory. The Sith knows how powerful he is and can't kill him so they manipulate him into being a storm trooper and their secret weapon, they could also tell when he's awaken. He has the powers of the Sith but he's not one. The reason why Kylo didn't kill him is because Snoke (Darth Plageis/Anakin Skywalkers father told him not too).

Rey is a reincarnation of the first user who's neither dark or light but actually more powerful possessing both sides. Her soul was transferred out of necessity from the whills (the creators of the force) to one of Luke's nearly dead students when the knights of ren attacked his camp to restore order.

Kylo is a Skywalker and one of the knights of ren who betrayed his uncle to be more like his grandfather and great grandfather. The knights of ren are a secret order of the most powerful Siths that were once Jedi's.

The whill reincarnated as Rey came down to restore order by bringing Ben back to the light side and informing him of the truth about Snoke/Plageis. That Plageis is dead and Anakin turned good before dying and the knights of ren are manipulating him using a deceased body.

The end of the last Jedi will convert Kylo to good and team him up with Rey and Finn (Jedi, Sith and Whill) against the knights of ren. Luke Skywalker was the mastermind behind the whole snoke plot but Darth Plageis has been dormant inside of him from an evil whill who is the creator of the dark side. Luke trained the knights of ren and only a whill (Rey) can remove the spirit of Plageis from him.

Edit: in the end, the team fights a giant force ghost of a whill.

Definitely would not have a victorious galaxy hero Luke still be the only Jedi in the universe and on the run in hiding 30 years later:martin:
Would have had Leia as a Jedi Master too

For some reason they decided to have the OG characters turn out to be the exact opposite of what every fan envisioned they would be in the future

I don't follow much of the stuff outside of the movies, but is it canon that the "Whills" are neither dark nor light? Does that mean that it also applies to the "Guardians of the Whills" like the blind monk from Rogue One? :ohhh:

Yup, in my story they would be like the celestials in marvel. God like beings and every so often someone wakes up inheriting there powers are is trained by accessing both sides.

Or the force unleashed with star killer.

So much piff in the SW Extended Universe. But Force Unleashed is a perfect example of the problem. Nostalgia and familarity.

Execs and the average movie goer dont want to get too deep into the Universe. They are shallow.

Imagine a whole new trilogy or Netflix series based on Revan or StarKiller.

They would Kill!!

They are exactly what SW needs, new fresh characters and stories in a familar setting.

Starkiller is perfect too. Vadar's apprentice. You get your taste of nostalgia, great action, new character with great development.

Its just out of their scope.

Wow im really starting to understand how the industry cripples creativity.

Make a Finn a super soldier who is trained to kill Jedi who once he turns good still had nightmares of the atrocities he's committed. Thus he spends the rest of the franchise trying to atone for his sins

This way you can have Rey as the pure spirit who brings out his goodness.

Also you could keep the Starkiller base. Except this time the big twist is it's a trap. It's whole purpose is to lure the Republic forces (nix that resistance crap) only to blow up the planet destroying most of the Republic forces

Also make the First Order it's own thing with own identity rather than an empire knockoff. Like Communists vs Fascists.
