i mentioned the same thing either last season or the one before. first and second half totals are weird as fukk in the nba. youll have a first half total like 96, it will fly over and land say 110, and the 2nd half total is like 92. its completely bizarre

with the first half total being 5-10 points higher than half of the full game....

How are they computing these totals?

Yesterday's Wizards/Timberwolves game was similar in that the first half was 98 and then the pace sped up and they scored like 120 in the 2nd half to hit the full game over.

I would guess statistically some teams score or allow more in the first half.

Could've sworn this exact question was answered in a behind the bets podcast like 6 months ago. Something to do with teams on averaging scoring more in the first half than the second.

NFL or college i believe it's the opposite

that is literally how haralbos voulgaris beat the system and got rich... he realized that second half totals were much higher specifically between close teams i believe, because of the late game fouling and stoppage of time...

books generally adjusted this to make second half totals higher after he cashed really big....

i dont really know why it would be the opposite with first halfs being high for totals... other thant he fact that some teams like boston just dont have finishing ability... its interesting though
