I read something about how this is how it normally is. They inflate the favorites, that happy go lucky square bettors who are just happy for football to be back get their lunch money took. I mean if you think about it there isn't much if any information on teams this season as this is the first week. Players graduate, new coaches are hired, new coordinators, new recruits. There isn't much information to go off to make informed decisions, therefore most ppl are just going to take the heavy favs from the previous season and ride with it. Then after the week one upsets happen, they'll double back and deflate the spreads of those teams that were once inflated. Watch in 2 weeks, expect Georgia to have an inflated spread against SC. Georgia just had a huge win against Clemson and SC fell flat against TAMU, despite the fact that Georgia doesn't have the passing attack TAMU has and SC will be home.
