Yup its pretty much been explained.

I do both...Cant let the muscle get to used to one technique plus it keeps gym fun.

Usually ill start with heavy weight low reps using free weights and then move onto the machines to do low weight more reps to sculpt myself.

heavier weight with lower reps will get you bigger. lower weights with more reps will get you bigger over time, but is more for shaping and cutting your muscles up.

A LOT OF MYTH TALK IN THIS THREAD
THATS BEEN DISPELLED A LONG TIME AGO...
HI REP LOW WEIGHT IS A WASTE OF TIME,
BECAUSE YOU CAN REACH YOUR GOALS IN 1/2-3/4 THE TIME
WITH LOW REP HI WEIGHT.

YOUR DIET IS GONNA DETERMINE YOUR BODY TYPE.
WANNA PUT ON MASS?
EAT OVER YOUR MAINTENANCE.
WANNA GET RIPPED?
EAT BELOW YOUR MAINTENANCE.

ALL WHILE DOING LOW REP HI WEIGHT,
AND YOULL GET THE RESULTS YOURE LOOKING FOR.

High weight, low reps, but a lot of people go overboard with this. If you're only doing 4 reps per set, then it's not worth it. It's also never worth it to sacrifice good form for higher weight. So lift as heavy as you can while maintaining good form. If you do, ideally, you won't be able to do more than 8 reps per set. If you're doing more than 11-12 reps, then add more weight.

6 REPS ISNT HALF OF 12 REPS,
WHICH EQUALS HALF THE TIME?

Low reps require longer rest periods.

Multiple low rep sets will be longer than multiple high rep sets.

So no, it doesn't equal half the time.

Then there's the issue of overall volume, general training response, practicality, joint health, technique, fatigue, goals, the list goes on.

Am I saying one is better than the other? No. They both have pros and cons. Do novice trainees need to think this deep? Nope. But to say high rep low training is a "myth" that's been debunked and is a waste of time is ridiculous.

At the end of the day the only thing that matters is progressive overload.
