Honest i feel if we could have gotten Hayward and we bring the rest of the crew back that we are a top 3 team in the east and could easily compete for a ECF or even an finals.

We have a solid enough bland of youth and vets. We have no real superstar but Hayward would be a star and I still feel that Whiteside hasn't even scratch the surface what he can be. I feel this team could easily pulled an 04 Pistons. I don't think we would be 5 through 8 treadmill status. At worse there an 4 seed

True. This whole mess i think is because riley pitched a culture sacrifice thing to hayword to be able to bring back JJ and dion to compete while boston pump faked and said we can give u the max plus keep the same team that went to the ECF.

Like I said I doubt a player like Hayward forfeits the 5th year and $44M just like that. I don't see him add the type to have many opportunities at more Max contracts later in his career. If I'm betting I'd say he's going back to Utah for his money.

It's baffling when you consider he's not an MVP or an all NBA first or second team caliber player. I just did a quick check. Since 1980, there's been 38 finals played. That means 76 teams have won their conference. Of those 76, only 14 of them did not have a guy who at some point in his career won the MVP award and 4 of them came from the dark ages of the eastern conference of 1999-2004. Of those 14, 4 of them still at least featured the defensive player of the year (1996 Gary Payton, 2004-2005 Ben Wallace, 2009 Dwight Howard). Of those last 38 champions, only 3 teams have won the title without an MVP winner past or present on their team. Does the team really see him as that much of a difference maker?
