• Though he’s a guard by trade, people around the Heat expect Josh Richardson to emerge as a serious challenger to Justise Winslow and Rodney McGruder for the starting small forward job.
Winslow, who is back from shoulder surgery, will not simply be gifted a starting job, the Heat has said.
And Miami ideally prefers McGruder as a bench player, though he will have a fair chance to win the starting job.
Richardson, at 6-6, has the length and defensive acumen to defend most small forwards.
As for Winslow, one player source says he has looked good in workouts.
“It’s up to him,” Riley said of Winslow being a starter. “He was short-circuited by the wrist and the shoulder. Justise is going to compete like crazy to start. The great thing about Spo, is when we come into training camp, it’s open.”
• Though ESPN reported that LeBron James’ camp expects Dwyane Wade to end up with Cleveland if he reaches a buyout with the Bulls, a Wade associate has been telling people that Miami and Los Angeles are also appealing destinations for Wade.

"Everybody is talking about Boston or Cleveland, but don't sleep on those boys in Miami. They got the respected; legendary Pat Riley as President, and are led by one of the brightest in the game Eric Spoelstra. And we all know if Miami made the playoffs, no one... I mean NO ONE wanted Miami in the first round."
Thats 50 over two gamesit's hard as shyt to score 50 in FIBA ball
I don't see who else we would wanna start at SF over Winslow. Only person I can think of is James Johnson and he's really PF who can play SF for stretches. And I wouldn't trust him to defend quicker premier/elite SFs for entire games because he'll either get burned out or get into foul trouble. Because remember, outside of point guards, the only place where your position kinda matters is who you're gonna defend.Looks like J-Rich vs. Winslow is going to be the premier camp battle
Rich could make sense at SF if they want to go with something resembling a "specialist" offensively while not sacrificing on the defensive end. McGruder doesn't have the ideal size and Ellington lacks the desired defense prowess. Talent wise I expect Winslow to win out and have a big season, this is still basically his sophomore year.I don't see who else we would wanna start at SF over Winslow. But I hope JRich puts on a few pounds of muscle and continues to work on his game. I had a good feeling about him when we picked him. Even moreso than Winslow. I still think he can be a major contributor even tho I gave up on the hope of him playing PG
I can see dion and TJ getting traded next offseason..making space for umm..that guy but I'm also stoned so take that for dataSo goes the story......
Here is the rub.......I actually am interested to see how this team plays this year....I am not fully sold on Dion and I sure as hell am not sold on those surrounding pieces
I do think they make they playoffs and hit one of the top four seeds.....
