Aside from his party, Waiters, 25, also had plenty to say about his new contract with the Heat, Kyrie Irving’s desire to leave Cleveland and the possibility of that happening with the Heat. As usual, Waiters did it with plenty of his signature Philly Cheese style.

“It would help – I’m not against that,” Waiters told HipHopSince1987 of a possible move by the Heat to acquire Irving, a four-time All-Star whom he played with for two and a half seasons in Cleveland.

The Miami Heat announced Thursday that fans who attend home games this upcoming season will only be able to get through the gate with tickets on their phones.

In doing so, the team becomes the first in the NBA with mobile-only entry. Other teams, like the Minnesota Timberwolves and the Cleveland Cavaliers, have mobile-only ticketing, but they permit fans to use a driver's license and credit card to get in.

Fans who walk up to Miami's AmericanAirlines Arena on game night will receive Heat tickets on their phones, even though they are at the box office.

In a statement, the Heat said they decided to adopt the system after finding that roughly one in three fans entered with a mobile ticket last season. The ticket on the phone is still transferable.

Teams are gradually shifting to mobile tickets, they say, in part to reduce fraud, but also to get valuable information about the fan who actually winds up in a specific seat.

Critics of the shift to mobile-only cite lack of ease with transferability and wanting to have a physical keepsake from the game.

Some teams that have shifted to mobile offer season-ticket holders the right to have their tickets printed on paper, but it often comes at a cost.

Just last month, the NHL's Montreal Canadiens announced the change to digital entry. The team offered paper tickets for the season for an additional charge of $118, plus taxes and fees.

NBA writer and radio host Ethan Skolnick was arrested Wednesday and charged with battering his 70-year-old father in Boca Raton, according to police.

Skolnick, 44, of Miramar, was charged with one count of battery on a person 65 years of age or older after his mother, Shelly Skolnick, called 911 around 11 a.m. reporting that he was punching his father, Louis, in the face and arms, according to the arrest report.

Earlier in the day, Boca Raton officers had been called to the parents’ home, where Ethan Skolnick was staying, after his estranged wife contacted police to check on him, according to the report. Though Skolnick cooperated with the check, officers were called back to the residence shortly after when Shelly Skolnick called to report the alleged assault.

When officers returned, they found Skolnick’s father with a bloodied nostril and a torn shirt. Shelly Skolnick told police that her son “went nuts” after the police left, believing his parents were responsible for calling police that morning. He then began punching his father, though his mother intervened and they both ran away from their son.

“He beat him up,” Shelly Skolnick yelled, according to the police report.


Louis Skolnick told police that his son had punched him on the left side of his face and his left arm, though he said a bruise that was visible on his arm had resulted from Skolnick punching him a week ago.
