I think James Johnson is a solid investment.

I missed the games when Waiters was going off so i cant comment. But i love Johnson's game. If Winslow can take that leap this year and have JJ balling we could cause problems in the East.

If you saw Waiters play at the beginning, it wasn't too different when he started balling except he started making better decisions and trusting his teammates. He'd pass when defenses collapsed, because he gets to the lane at will, and make better decisions. This led to more open lanes and less congestion in the paint so those layups of his started to fall.

Rinse and repeat. The more Dion trusted the team, the more they trusted in him and his confidence started soaring.

Do we actually think Kelly O. is going to be an improvement. I would much rather see Bam develop. I really like his game. didn't know he could shoot like that.

Yeah, he's gonna help. Kelly brings spacing, is a decent passer, and is deadly from the corner. He'll open up lanes for guys like Winslow, Johnson, and Waiters who are all really good rebounders/defenders so his weakness there can be covered. He's a pretty good decision maker (Even if he pump fakes way too much) and I think conditioning will help him a lot because great conditioning typically leads to better defensive results (See Wayne Ellington who is now average).

And you'll probably see lineups with him and Bam too. Remember, Bam can shoot but he's obviously not comfortable from range yet at an NBA pace. Kelly is and Bam can develop even if he comes off the bench. Spo says it all the time, you play the part and you'll win your starting spot.

He'll still get quality minutes but I think having a few experienced bodies in front of him is a good situation for a rookie big.

We've gotten just about 0 production from the power forward slot between Bosh/McRoberts/Babbit the past couple seasons. Literally anything would be an improvement.

Bam is the future but he's a teenager...bring him along slowly

I think Riley signed Olynyk as insurance. Typical "I trust veterans before i trust rookies" Riley type approach

Honestly he's right for having a backup plan. My only objection was the pricetag.

But also remember that Bam was playing mostly against scrubs who wont be on an NBA roster for the most part. Scouting report of him was that he struggles to score against SIZE so we'll what happens in the regular season. BUt i do like his approach of attacking when he was out there. Which was one of my beefs with Winslow in summer leagues when he was a rookie. I though he was too passive for a player of his caliber.
Had me screaming "you're a fukkking first round top 10 lottery pick. What the fukk you doing deferring to (then) Dleaguers" . :mindblown:
But i get it now. Winslow is such a cerebral player he can impact (those) games in other ways than scoring.

He opted out of a deal with us that would have paid him 1.6 million next season. Not only did he not recoup that money he's still a backup. Jesus this guy need a new agent
Yeah this wasn't a good look. I was positive Reed was going to get a decent pay day but :francis:
