Defund the police doesn't mean abolish the police. The idea behind the movement is to reduce their funding and stop sending these police forces all the hand me down military equipment. The funding would be reallocated to fund mental health facilities and other community services meant to help reduce the need for militarized police forces.

all the police do in my town is hand out tickets to residence that pay their salary and pension...its a crazy system...If you 4min late to a parking meter thats $25 for you...roll through a stop sign...gotta go to court...and its high taxes in my area with low crime...the system is just feeding on itself....They are Civil Servants by definition...acting completely opposite just generating cash flow for their department and violent
