Food and Liquor II: Part 2 going on the Self. His label ain't going to be happy with this. He probalby won't even go Gold after 2 albums that went Gold and had 2 Top 10 Hits off those albums. I'm not shocked by the numbers. He sold most of that off his name and brand. There was no single like "Show goes on" or "Superstar" to appeal to the masses. This album was obviously for Hip Hop heads cause "Lasers" was more for the pop crowd. It's all good, atleast Lupe got to do the album he wanted but again the label ain't going to be happy with these numbers. If the numbers hold he dropped over 65% from "Lasers" 1st week. Also his 2nd Week is going to drop huge. Again don't think this is going Gold.

Its a solid release and I bought my copy :manny:

But as a Lupe fan I have to admit that the perceptions of him have changed a lot since The Cool dropped and a lot of that tarnishing of his brand falls on him. That probably affected these numbers.

He also gave people every reason to not cop this album. And that goes beyond the promotion from his label and the album cover. For whatever reason Lupe is always compared to Nas and Kendrick. Those 2 got on their grind and destroyed everything they were on to build a buzz for their album. Lupe decided to just isolate himself and hasn't been seen on a lot of songs outside of his own. He also had no big features on his album or mixtape. Most of Lupe's buzz has been from twitter rants this year.

I'll take a good album over good numbers any day but this album is a flop if he doesnt push over 100K.

I used to stan Lupe around the first 2 albums, his arrogance is what killed it for me. He just doesn't come off as a likeable person in his interviews. This is coming from someone who bought the first two albums retail.

Nah he always said he expected sales to be low for this album its what he wanted to deliver not the label. Next album suppose to have bigger hits.

what does this have to do with buying quality hip hop music:scusthov:

Because the music biz is all about being likeable and relatable to your target fanbase and he lost me with all that bullshyt. I liked it better when he wasn't coming off so damn preachy and "I'm better than you because I'm conscious".

fukk em'.
