I would NOT get the flu shot this year brehs. I work in an ER and I've seen a TON of flu cases this year already. Easily the worst flu in a while. However, DONT listen to the media encouraging you to RUN RIGHT NOW and get a FLU SHOT. Its bullshyt. I can honestly say that over HALF of the patient that were diagnosed with the flu in the ER so far GOT THEIR FLU SHOT and got sick anyways. I'm certain the folks that make the flu vaccine were WAY off in their prediction for which flu antigen to create this year.

The BEST way to prevent against flu is the following:

1. Eat a lot of healthy greens and fruits to boost your immune system. I recommend large amounts leafy green vegetables like Kale, Spinach, Broccli, etc. Citrus fruits like oranges, lenom, limes, are also good choices.

2. WASH YOUR fukkING HANDS. If you're around a large group of people and your constantly shaking hands or dapping up, be sure to wash you hands regularly as fomites are the most COMMON way flu is being transmitted. Consider keep antibacterial ointment on your person if a sink is not nearby.

3. Drink plenty of fluids. Not being dehydrated does wonders for you immune system.

4. Consider taking a multivitamin if your not getting good amounts of green vegetables.

5. If you do feel yourself coming on with a cold consider drinking lots of Echinacea tea, Zinc pills, and Vitamin C. These items are well known immune boosters, and can decrease you symptom duration significantly.

6. If you still feel like shyt despite all this. Go to an URGENT CARE or an ER (Urgent care if you want to save money). You might have pneumonia or need TAMIFLU. But again, this should be a last resort.

EDIT: This assumes your a healthy person with no medical problems. If you are ill or have a weakened immune system, talk to you doctor before following any advice brehs..

Here's a maddening piece of advice people don't respect...

If you're sick, DON'T GO SOMEWHERE YOU DON'T HAVE TO GO!!!!!!!!!!

I didn't get the flu shot because I never do. I'm almost never sick. My mother-in-law came to my son's birthday party sick and then two days later my cousin came to the family Christmas party sick.

Ended up with a strange and awful type of flu.

a$$holes.

I caught this flu from a sick coworker while at a sportsbar watching eagles vs. saints. I had recently recovered from a cold when I caught this. I was probably immuno-compromised... :(

I wash my hands with antibacterial soap FOLLOWED BY hand sanitizer. I eat salad daily and take adult vitamins. I took zinc lozenges, airborn, and tylenol flu meds at the first hint of infection. The full-blown flu lasted only 3 days. This aftermath cough thing has lasted 2 days. I am using way too much asthma medication to breathe thru each night!

But NYC is filthy. Must keep to myself more. fukk a social life until spring. -_-

I cannot return to work with this lawnmower cough. Something's gotta give.

why is the flu shot bullshyt? I'm not gonna take your stupid anecdotal evidence just because you're a janitor in the ER. The flu shot is a precaution, and it works for the most part. Also, the flu very often gets confused with flu-like illnesses. stop with the anti-vaccination bullshyt

"Antibacterials may also kill bacteria that actually are helpful to the body because they keep other troublesome bugs in check"

Also, in regards to your asthma, if you're not on Dulera (mometasone furoate/formoterol fumarate dihydrate) you should ask your doctor about it. You take two puffs in the morning and two puffs at night every single day and it prevents symptoms from ever occurring.

I have absolutely no evidence indicating that the flu shot is bullshyt. What I do know is that whenever the Govt tells me that I need to do something every year, it's usually not for my benefit. Having said that, I've never gotten a flu shot, and I've gotten the flu twice in 30+ years.

The flu shot is most effective in children and elderly or people with deficient immune systems. Yes, as a healthy adult you can still get the flu but you probably won't. It's up to you whether you want to take that risk, I don't get the flu shot either, but I will say that every doctor I know always gets the flu shot. As young healthy people we can deal with the flu if we get it, but imagine when you're 45 years old, the flu is a lot rougher to recover from and deal with.

What works for one, may not work for the other.

People gotta accept that not all humans are built the same, but also understand that we've been brainwashed to think we need the same things.

I'm sure many of the original inhabitants of North America thought their European guests meant well by supplying them with all that liquor. The OGs weren't prepped physically, or mentally, but them Euros had more of a resistance to the evils of alcohol and have been using/selling that poison legally while banning less harmful substances.

Similar to European America doctors and scientists trying to tell the rest of us that milk does the body good because all the calcium. No, it does YOUR body good. It fukks me, and a lot of my brothers up though.

Similar to ganja smokers telling you that the green helps open their 3rd eye, and gets creative juices flowing. Yes... But it may cause extreme paranoia and laziness to YOUR body and mind

Similar to the ectomorph that will eat all the junk in the world, and not gain a pound, VS the endomorph that gains weight by simply looking at food.

The flu shot has its benefits for a lot of people I'm sure.
But we shouldn't automatically dismiss methods that work for US just because:bryan: tells us so.

If you look back in history, more times the leaders of European-American societies look out for their own first, their cash cows 2nd, and the rest of us last.

But heres an idea. Why not cover all basis by leading a healthy lifestyle, and getting the shot if you feel you're more prone to contracting the flu?

I personally haven't gotten the flu or a flu shot in years, but I'm not gonna tell someone else not to:yeshrug:. I just hope they make their decision based on their own research, as opposed to putting all their faith in people and organizations they don't full trust

I cannot return to work with this lawnmower cough. Something's gotta give.

1. Why would you be around a sick person when you are more vulnerable as a asthmatic?
2. The first signs of us feeling sick means the cold virus has been in our system for 48 hours.
3. Anti-bacterial soup is not effective as they claimed. Plus bacteria is spread from not just hands but the surrounding area of the sick person. It comes out their pours.
4. What enhanced your sickness was the sports-bar. How many people were sick in the place you didn't know could make it worse. On top of the unclean hands of the people preparing your drinks and food.
5. Eating a salad and taking a vitamin doesn't change anything about preventive measure from sickness.
6. Airborn doesn't work. Zinc works but not by itself.

Stuff that can ease the cough is Sambucus( Black Elderberry) and Clear Lungs. Take it from me who was asthmatic....shyt works homie. So the thing is to prepare your immune system for cold weather and season is to have lots of Vitamin C( not orange juice), Eat mad greens, get lots more sleep, stay away from alcohol.

Also another effective measure is to take Source Naturals "Wellness Formula"....nasty as fukk but works 100%. It knocks out first signs of colds every-time.
