Floyd's counters in that match are legendary. Call me a "casual" but I've never seen a fighter counter so quickly before or really after.

That was one of my favorite nights as a boxing fan.

I was a sophomore in college and one of my boys invited me to his brother's crib to watch the fight. Mind you they spanish themselves (mexican/peruvian) so he gave me a heads up on what I was walking into. They were cool af, but out of a house of like 20 people, I was the only one pulling for Mayweather. Even the only other breh was pulling for Canelo because he felt that Mayweather was too cocky. Now I will say the only one who knew what's up was his brother's gf dad. He knew his shyt and we both agreed on what was gonna happen. He just didn't say anything to his anyone else because he was tryna keep the peace in the house.

Watching that fight from start to finish in a room full of Canelo/Mexican fans was surreal :wow:. Seeing the soul leave their body after each round was hilarious and I was over there cracking tf up. It was like whatever they thought about Mayweather or boxing in general went out the window. You could tell that they wanted to use the excuse that Mayweather "runs", but nah he beat the shyt out of Canelo and they knew it. And to do it as the much smaller fighter was even more impressive, on top of the age difference. The silence from rounds 9-12 was :pachaha:. I got up on some "ahhhh guess my work here is done :troll::mjgrin:"

Can't say Canelo was too young because he didn't skip a beat afterwards and Floyd was inching closer to retirement. That was a fight is normally on a silver plater for the younger fighter. Floyd was around the same age as ODLH when he got beat down by Pacquiao. Ali, B Hop, Pacquiao, Tyson, etc. List goes on and on, but most fighters don't get to have that kind of run Floyd had in the later years leading into retirement. Most end up looking like :flabbynsick: and that's not meant as disrespect, but that's just how things play out more times than not.

Floyd put on a masterpiece and :salute: to Canelo for learning from that fight.

Floyd is super disciplined. He doesn't drink or smoke and he doesn't gain much weight between fights

Value of his win over Canelo goes up day by day.

He really changed the natural order of things with that victory. Usually a future hall of fame will defeat a legend on his way out and make a name for themselves, but Floyd said no and put on a clinic.
