Fans were gasping in anticipation,as WBC/WBA welterweight and junior middleweight champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. was interviewed during the NBA All Star game at Madison Square Garden in New York City.
There were widespread rumors that Mayweather was going to announce that a deal was reached with Manny Pacquiao for May 2nd mega-fight at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
Like most of the rumors in recent days, add that one to the long list of misinformation being circulated. He also shot down a recent report by UK paper The Telegraph, which said a deal had been reached between him and Pacquiao.
"That's not true [that a deal was reached]. I haven't signed yet and he hasn't signed yet. It's just been speculations and rumors. But hopefully we can make the fight happen," Mayweather said.
The two sides continue to negotiate and most insiders believe the fight will either get finalized or fall apart in the coming days.
