Think about it though: if these are his last fights, he has no other REAL income then boxing. Makes sense to fight a couple big names (1 a year), and the other fight a easily won fight. You KNOW 6 fights wasn't just thrown out there, he been working on this since November so I'm sure he probably has a plan A,B,and C for fights he could take for next 30 months. Roy wanted to fight, Floyd boxes...he'll last longer that way.

Well if that's the case then I hope he sticks to fighting bums his last few fights. Problem is, when you get older, dudes who wouldn't be able to touch you before, now have a better chance. I agree in theory though, make as much money while you can, which is why I was against is first "retirement".

This. I wonder what happened to make Floyd leave HBO.
probably the relationships with the promoters. Golden Boy, who helps promote Floyd, is no longer with HBO & exclusively with Showtime.

Top Rank, who Floyd doesn't mess with, is aligned with HBO.

So it only made sense for Floyd to jump. It's no wonder that the fight took so log to announce. All the legal shyt & particulars probably had to be sorted out for a deal of this magnitude.
