The new Texas...
LOL I feel you. That tourism money only means minimum wage jobs. All those EMPTY Miami condos smh...I'd gladly take on that label if it meant oil money.
The FL economy is a fukking joke. Almost exactly the same sectors as before the industrial revolution: tourism, agriculture, and real estate.
With some medical services thrown in, of course.
florida is an extreme microcosm of america in many ways...has such beautiful features and potential but it is being misused by the power handlers while many stand/sit idly by. i dont know what can be done at this point outside of a slow, gradual process of prudent and righteous voting..but that slow and gradual process will be painstakingly tough and im not sure if the floridians are really focused enough to right the wrongs. so many of them are snowbirds, so many of them are satisfied and content with their living conditions, and so many of them are just generally apathetic that it allows for unjust actions to take place..and in many cases, those actions are irreversible.
with that said, im unsure about how to feel about this particular case. this prince of god seems to be a crazy murderer, and while i empathize with and sympathize for people with mental conditions, there has to be a line drawn somewhere. would it be fair to the families of the victims if he was let to stay outside of a prison and inside of a mental institute his whole life? im not necessarily a supporter of the death penalty, but as long as it is constitutionally sound, i dont have anything against florida choosing to do this. if it truly contradicts the constitution then it shouldnt be allowed. but him saying that it is preparing him for ascension doesnt necessarily mean he doesnt comprehend what the death penalty means for him, he knows he will die. he just believes he is going to heaven afterwards.
Never been to the South, or Florida and I don't plan on it anytime soon

It is cruel to kill someone that don't understand what they did or they are gonna die. Think about killing someone with Down's syndrome. Could you live with thought or image?
After suffering a traumatic brain injury at age 21, Ferguson spent years in and out of mental hospitals. In spite of warnings from doctors that Ferguson should remain hospitalized because he was dangerously mentally ill, Ferguson was released. And in the next several years, he faced charges for several murders.
