affordability has to do with costs and income. the income part is florida's problem. california and new york have the income.
I can promise you that ad is false. There's close to zero percent chance that you can get that place for anything close to the price that's listed on there. I'd be willing to bet that ad hasn't changed one bit since before covid hit.
So basically everyone in tech is rushing to miami inflating the cost :wow:

I can't wait for the crash. :wow:

You know it's coming. :hubie:

the ether
i mean, cost of living is driven by
-demand to live there
-local government costs

and i dont see option B in the mix in florida :dead:

It's not highest cost of living, it's "least affordable". You're skipping that their wages are ass and that's why it's not affordable. California has higher cost of living, but it's still more affordable cause folk are more likely to make enough money to actually be able to pay their rent.

edit: As Dora noted, you're also skipping the influence of the lack of regulations, which allow landlords in states like Florida to jack up prices with less constraint than most California landlords.

- no regulation of landlords and letting people raise rents wildly year over year (and look, as a former LL, I’m for a middle ground, but reading stories about Texas and Florida where people’s rent jumped 15/22/36% in a year is wild)

def. not ok in a state like Florida that doesn’t have the economy or earning potential of places like Cali, ny, MA, tx, etc
those states might have higher earning potential, but the implication in here that this is a florida problem is bullshyt :dead:

but i support higher minimum wage and a degree of rent control, so :hubie: good luck, nikki fried

I'm literally just explaining the OP article to you. You proved you were mentally incapable of understanding it on your own, so I broke it down. And that's how you thank me?
no one has used "california" and "affordable" in the same sentence in a decade :russell:

How disingenuous do you want to be? I'm legit shocked you're even allowed to post in this forum.

No one said California was "affordable", I was just explaining to you why the OP article ranked it as not quite the least affordable state in the entire country. First you lied and claimed it was only because everyone wanted to move to Florida. Once I corrected you, you immediately deflected and attacked me, when called out you deflected again and misrepresented me.

im just laughing at the idea that this is some liberal dunk, when its blatantly because of the ridiculous, unprecedented factors of the last two years :dead:

new york and california couldnt get less affordable. but places like vegas and florida got slammed by inflation, and people actually wanting to move there because of the low costs. so of course its way outta wack. hotel workers arent keeping up with this shyt out here either
