That shyt would turn me into a mass shooter
These insurance companies need to be investigated. How can you justify 30-50% increases? Why would the state even agree to such tomfoolery?
It's already one of the most expensive states in terms of cost of living.

I own and I can tell full-stop that when people say its better to own than rent, it comes with hella caveats. This type of shyt is one of them.

Your fixed costs are rarely fixed and if insurance chucks deuces in your market, your home is in some wild territory whether you are fully paid off or still mortgaged. My next place will hopefully be my forever spot cause I wanna pay it down and not worry about shyt like this especially with climate change knocking entire markets out of the box.

1) Climate Change Losses since Hurricane Katrina.
2) Not building enough housing (which is why it's so expensive to rebuild)

Moreover - just cause cats don't live in Hurricane, Flood, Tornado, or Wildfire zone - these companies are national - so the "safe" areas gotta cover for the "unsafe" areas.

Whatever happens - profit margins must not just be maintained, they must GROW.

This is a fact. This is why climate action on the federal level is needed. Companies chasing profits ruins general outcomes (See healthcare when hospitals became for-profit). There will eventually be a federal "All-in" insurance if too many companies do this. Things will only get worse so the old prices are done.

During his presidential campaign, Andrew Yang said that with climate change, the horse already left the barn, and we need to start moving people away from those areas.

Tornadoes, I have no idea how to dodge those...

But
  • Rising rivers in the Midwest and northeast
  • Hurricanes in The Gulf and on the East Coast
  • Wildfires in the NW
  • Heat Domes and Droughts in Arizona/New Mexico...
Fed should be moving people out of those places and let them re-wild.

If cats wanna stay out there, they're on their own.

And as we all see the writing on the wall, more and more people more to GA, FL, TX, AZ, Nevada...laughing at EV's, buying SUVs, .....

Cat need to start looking at the Great Lakes area. (and they gotta worry about Mosquitos and whatever pathogen pops up...)

People won't move unless they absolutely have to and mass migration isn't happening anytime soon. It would overload good area and strain resources. This is really something that takes decades to implement and make happen. So much infrastructure can be built in areas that are currently sparsely populated but it requires a ton of resources, political will, and foresight of the people.
