You said it was "total bs" that they were anywhere but the south. Just say you were wrong and be quiet.
If you keep trying to drive home the point that there is racist attitudes in the south, and nobody denies they're more prevalent among people white people in the south, yet you're claiming that somehow the 55% of black people who live in the south don't have dignity, blah, blah, blah, you are essentially saying that white people love you so much more and treat you so much better in the north, which is utter bullshyt.
Let me try to explain and educate you to something because I guess knowledge about American life didn't trickle up much to Canada. In can't speak for small towns, but in southern cities--metro areas, life for black people is essentially no different than it is in cities in the north. You may see more confederate flags and more white people may vote for Republican, but as far as the effect on your daily life it's negligible.
What I find even more hilarious that you're a Canadian trying to lecture black Americans about life and culture in parts of the country you've never lived in, is that you live in NYC and have the audacity to claim black people living ANYWHERE lack dignity and self-respect.
There's nothing wrong with NYC...great place, maybe the best overall city in the US....used to go almost every summer as a kid. But a New Yorker telling anybody else they lack dignity of self-respect is farcical.
NYC has had an activefor a couple of decades. NYC essentially laid the blueprint for the holocaust on black families that is the war on drugs with the Rockefeller drugs laws in the 70's. NYC has a racist police chief and back to back racist Mayors who support flagrantly unconstitutional searches and seizures that target black and Latino males.
The NYC city government has gentrified the city and actively tried to get rid of their black population, turning historic black neighborhoods into bike paths for art major cacs wearing jeggings. NYC is the marijuana arrest capital of the world. In NYC cops shot Amadou Diallo 41 times for no reason and Guiliani shytted on the whole black population of the city, and was like "Yeah we shot him, what?" They did nothing. Abmer Louima got raped and tortured by police in NYC. Sean Bell got shot 50 times unarmed in NYC. The Central Park 5 got thrown in jail as juveniles, framed for a rape they didn't commit and the D.A. still won't apologize to them to this day.

Attitudes among whites in the southern region are generally more racist. The most severe, draconian anti-black policies in the country today are in NYC.
