Here in Florida (Orlando specifically), the housing market is said to be up 60%. I've been looking for a home for about a month and I'm surprised that the market is moving so quickly! Lots of people are taking their money out of the stock market and purchasing homes with cash. This means that I'm not only up against other folks looking to purchase a home, but also investors who have cold hard cash! 
My plan is to purchase a home and suffer through a roommate (or two) in order to pay off Sallie Mae in a more times fashion.
